Stellastarr* Bring it Home
Miss Modernage in New York, NY

Stellastarr24-02-06_7.jpg

Last night Stellastarr* brought the awesome to NYC's Bowery Ballroom. I've seen them so many times I've lost count, but this time I was
totally blown away by how much they've evolved into certified ROCK
STARS. Just so impressive. They've come such a long way since I first
saw them back in the day at a free show at the now defunct Luna Lounge
on the LES.

The songs were tight and delivered with the precision of a Swiss
timepiece. There were a bunch of crazy people at the front of the
audience--including a bunch of huggy female "friends" who did not
spend one moment standing still nor was a nanosecond passed without
one of them throwing up devil's horns into the air.

There was also a Brian Bell (from Weezer) look-a-like who was the
obligatory "tall dude" standing front and center. I take that last
comment back, that dude wasn't standing at all, he was hopping around
like a freaking Mexican jumping bean. Seriously SS*, are you doping up
your audiences before the show?

They ended the night with three crowd super-faves: Coco, Angela, and
Jenny--which made all the boys and girls dance like "a robot from
1984", as the Arctic Monkeys would say. And judging by the encore song
names, I think if SS* ever get tired of rocking out every night, they
could make a killing as the people who get to name hurricanes--but if
the great set and rabid fans are any indication, I think I'll be
waiting a long time for them to get bored of their current
professions.
