Kevin Devine: Shoving Irony up Your NoseGinger Gallant from the mean streets of Park Slope

Sure, you could make fun of Kevin Devine in the same way you might bag on Conor Oberst or Ryan Adams for, I don't know, having feelings and turning them into words to be sung over guitar but...um...don't make fun of him, or else I won't be your friend anymore. Stop being too afraid to not be ironic for one second of your life and enjoy music, asshole. 'Brooklyn Boy' is the song for every reality bites 20 something (in Brooklyn, or London or any other god damn city with cool people in it). "Brooklyn Boy, born and raised, choppin' lines, hey hey its my birthday"...This is youth. We are bored, we dont know what we want to do with our lives, and so we get fucked up and try to make our lives interesting by over-analyzing everything we do until 6 in the morning...sounds fun right? It is until you wake up, eat a bagel and feel fat and you get a nosebleed at your 9-5 banking job that you hate but pays for your shoe habit and more drugs. 'Just Stay' is just as real and gut-wrenching. This is a kid you can relate to...Kevin Devine is on a major label, but still pulls off cool, kudos to you man.
