The Blood Arm
NY2LON Featured ArtistVivian Banks from Bel Air

Alright, we here at NY2LON admit that The Blood Arm's latest album, Lie Lover Lie has been out for awhile, but we never gave it the attention and praise it deserved, so we are now taking the time to give it a proper spin! (Even though they're currently working on a new album - whoopsies).
For those of you who don't know who they are, The Blood Arm are the US's answer to Franz Ferdinand. Hailing from LA, they make the kind of pop music that seems to have gone out of style within recent years. Their music is just good, honest fun, with a flamboyant flair that only lead singer, Nathaniel Fregoso, could deliver.
The simple drumbeats at the start of "Suspicious Character" are infectious and introduce us to the most exciting track on the album. The song has clever lyrics ("let me steal a kiss, yah I was late for only this, and if you want one more, come back to my apartment and I'll show you what it's for") that you should definitely use this Valentine's Day to find yourself a date! The end of the track concludes with the spelling out of the word "know," which you wouldn't think to be sexy, but The Blood Arm manage to pull it off.
You can find possibly one of the meanest lyrics in the song "Angela," when Nathaniel yells, "I miss you like a nuclear bomb." Ouch. Their biography states that the lead singer realized "that his voice could lead him to heights higher than he could ever climb with his arms and legs alone." And it has undoubtedly done so. "Do I Have Your Attention?" is Nathaniel's way of conveying his message that he wants to be heard.
Almost all of the eleven songs on Lie Lover Lie are less than four minutes, making the album a forty minute masterpiece. This album deserves a lot of praise for its mature, yet simplistic pop music and warrants another listen from everyone. We're looking forward to their future work!
